Audi`s thinking when designing our 5 pots....

ive been molesting AAN`s for about 3 years now, and i have never noticed the holes in the inlet manifolds to get to the 6mm allen bolts keeping the manifolds in place, ive always struggled with spanners, extentions, and lots of swearing to get manifolds off

i have had the head off my engine in situ twice, and stripped/built up on a bench
and manifold off it, easily 3 times on the car!

engine has now been removed for good, will never be back in the A4 in the same configuration ever again

while stripping the head from the block to drop off at JP`s, i noticed the holes in the manifold, **** me, had the manifold off in seconds, with no skin loss, and no actual swearing towards the manifold

what have you noticed from Audis Excelence of thinking?

im amazed at their after sales thaughts that have gone into these engines, nothing is hard to work on, we what ive done anyway

      Dave,

i actually have the exact same brand and size of the one you posted i bought for getting sumps off mk5 golfs to do oil pumps and chains, imported from the US (not implying your a US man ofcourse )
took 2 weeks to arrive and dows the job perfect, using large grips on it to crack the bolts loose, never faulted in 20+ jobs and 4 years of use

BUT i have the 5 mm one, not the 6mm DOH!!!!!!! LOL

Sorry Sean this might hurt (but it is meant to make you laugh):

A hardware shop on the High Street advertises Stihl chain saw in the window. The sign says you can cut four metric cubic metres of firewood with it in one day.

Punter comes buy and sees the sign. Goes in. Buys the chain saw, muttering something about showing the missus and puttin' up some wood for the stove for the winter. "That'll impress 'er", he says.

Two days later he comes back to the shop, swearing at the shop keeper. "This f'n saw you sold me is rubbish. Try as I might, I could only do half a cubic metre over these past two days. Your sign says I should have been able to do eight by now. It's crap and I want me money back. And now."

"Hmm.." says the shop keeper. "Let me try it".

The shop keeper takes the saw, primes it, and then pulls the cord.

          Brrripp, Brripp, tickata tickata.

          Punter says "What's that noise?"

That's what I thought about when you told your story.

          Sorry.

Confused ..... So do you need a 5,6mm hex or a petrol driven chainsaw to remove the inlet manifold

whats with all the hardcore forum members / anoraks asking simple questions or not knowing stuff? you'd think the people who've made thousands of posts would know quite a lot haha

The point of the story/joke was the punter missed something that was obvious (to everyone but him).
